MASTERS: GENERAL REGULATIONS

1.The following regulations prescribe rules of classification of teams taking part in The North Face Adventure Trophy
2.The regulations concern all teams participating in the race.
3.The following regulations may change before or during the race. The participants will be informed about all changes.
4.The participants are fully responsible for obeying safety rules during the race and special tasks.
5.The participants not obeying the regulations may be disqualified.
6.The final interpretation of regulations is up to organizers.


PARTICIPATION

1.In the race take part teams:
  -Masters category: four person, the mixed teams.
2.All competitors must be at last 18 years old and present a doctor's assent for taking part in endurance competition or put forward the written statement on proper health condition.
3.All competitors must have valid medical insurance.
4.Before the race competitors must sign a document, stating that they take part in the race at their own responsibility, that in the case of accident not for the organizers' fault will not put any claims, and that that they have proper skills and adequate training in the race disciplines.
5.Competitors take part in the race either under the name of their team or their sponsor's.
6.The list of team members shown at the registration can't be changed during the race; team changing members during the race will be disqualified.
7.The final list of team members must be given to organizers until 7 pm, 28 April 2006 r.

COMPETITION

1.The race route is marked by with check points. The team will be given main map - tourist map, scale 1: 50.000, and additional maps for some stages. All team has to show up at the checkpoint (CP).All the control points must be confirmed in order arranged by organizers. The moment the all team members appear on the check point they are given the presence confirmation from the referee. The teams are free to free to choose the route between the CPs. Organizers has the right to set up the obligatory route between the CPs - in this case such route will be marked on the map.
2.All teams start simultaneously.
3.The team has to race together. Splitting of the team and lost of eye contact is forbidden. Distance between the first and the last team member can't exceed 100 m at the trekking stages, 200 m at at the MTB stages and 50 m at the kayaking stages.
4.There will be special tasks and sections at the route.
5.If the task is not done at all or it is done in inappropriate way it will lead to disqualification. The proper performance of special task is confirmed by the referee. The special sections must be completed in the way stated by organizers.
6.Other people are not allowed to assist any competitor at any time during the competition. Any organized help is absolutely prohibited.
7.Using of any means of transport, except of allowed by organizers at given stage, is absolutely forbidden.
8.In the national parks teams has to move only by marked tourist trails (also in allowed direction in the case of one-way trails)
9.During the MTB stages obeying the road rules is necessary, in the case of breaking these rules the team may be disqualified.
10.The organizers supply kayaks, paddles and life-jackets at the kayak leg, the kayak's technical condition may be varied.
11.The organizers allow using of team's own kayak equipment (only paddles, life-jackets).
12.Wearing of life-jackets at the kayak leg is obligatory.
13.The participants can use only their own equipment (taken to the start start line and deposited in the transition areas), using of equipment supplied by other person is absolutely prohibited.
14.Starting a fire in the forest and its surroundings is prohibited.
15.Camping in the prohibited areas is prohibited, in private areas for teams own responsibility
16.Crossing the state border in other places than official crossings is absolutely prohibited.
17.During the race participants must have ID or passport.

TRANSISTION AREAS
Start
- Before Stage 1, teams will be able to leave all mandatory equipment in start boxes which will be needed for Stage 2
- After Stage 1 teams must take all equipment from start boxes and set off with it for Stage 2
- You can not leave anything in start boxes after leaving for Stage 2 Transition Area 1
It will be lokalized in race center. In this Transition Area competitors show up one time after Stage 2. In signed area for each team you can leave your necessary equipment and bikes
- Maximum number of package – 2 plus bikes
- Maximum size of all packages – 200 L
After Stage 2, you can leave necessary equipment, that you will need on stage 4, 5, 6, 7.
Transition Area 2
In this Transition Area competitors show up three times, after Stage 3, Stage 4 and Stage 6.
- Maximum number of package – 4 and life-jackets and paddles
- Maximum size of all packages – 400 L
Equipment, which team delivers to transition 2. after stage 2nd is limited to 10 kg per team. 5 kg per team Amator category



CLASSIFICATION RULES

1.To be classified, the team has to confirm all CPs and peform all special tasks and sections.
2.The one and only criterion of classification is time (including time penalties).
3.Only complete teams will be clasified. The final time of last team member is the final team's time.

AWARDS

Teams in Masters race will be given diplomas, cups and prizes
of total about 7 000 Euro

1 PLACE: 1100 Euro in cash and 1100 Euro in equipment
2 PLACE: 850 Euro in cash and 850 Euro in equipment
3 PLACE: 600 Euro in cash and 600 Euro in equipment
4 PLACE: 400 Euro in cash and 400 Euro in equipment
5 PLACE: 300 Euro in cash and 300 Euro in equipment
6 PLACE: 250 Euro in cash and 250 Euro in equipment

TIME PENALTIES AND DISQUALIFICATION

1.The lack of a control point confirmation of is a base of disqualification of a team.
2.There will be the time penalties for of exceeding of the time limit.
3.If the referee recognize the team unable to perform the task, the team will be disqualified.
4.There will be the time penalty for loss of obligatory equipment during the race.
5.The organizers has the right to withdraw the team
  -if the medical staff finds the competitor unable to continuing of exercise
  -in the case of breaking of race regulation


TIME LIMITS

1.At all checkpoints will be set the time limit. When the time is over, the check point is closed.
2.Teams that won't arrive on the check point within time limit won't be allowed to continue.
3.Time limits will be given in the map (near every check point).
4. The time limit for the whole route is 80 hours, in both race categories.

WITHDRAWAL

1.In case of withdrawal of a competitor or an entire team, the team captain must inform organizers as soon as possible.
2.If the team fails to notify the organizers of its withdrawal and a rescue operation is mounted, the team will have to pay for any financial costs incurred.
3.When one team member withdraws from the competition, the entire team is disqualified.
4.Disqualified competitor or team will not be allowed back on the race.
5.Organizers guarantee to transport the team to the base of the race only in the serious cases (severe exhaustion, accidences etc.), in other cases only if possible.
6.The incomplete team must have a minimum of three to be allowed to continue the race. Such teams won't be classified.
7.It is impossible to change the category during the race.

START NUMBERS

1.Teams are given numbers during the registration.
2.During the race competitors are obliged to wear starting numbers.
3.Covering of the numbers is prohibited.
4.The sponsor branding is allowed as long as sponsors on starting numbers are visible.

APPEALS

1.Appeals in written form, signed by the team captain, has to be put to the race director at the latest one hour after reaching the finishing line and enclose 200 PLN bail. In case of rejecting the appeal, the bail will not be refunded. Any changes in above regulations (if there are any) will be published at race website and announced during the briefing before the race. Any changes of the route during the race can be announced only by the referees. The team captains will have to confirm knowledge of such changes by signing up an proper statement.
